The other day I replaced the interior pieces (washed in the bath tub), cleaned up the under dash wiring, fixed the driver's power window motor and seat adjustments (too reclined).

I have to say, this is a pretty straight & clean Cherokee.

Question... This Jeep will see more street than dirt, should I remove the front and rear lockers? Can I do this myself without setting up the R&P?

IMO, if it were mine and the lockers didn't affect the handling of the vehicle I'd leave them in.

I want to, but I also don't want to break anything. I don't know jack about lockers.

What are they? auto, limited slip, selectable? If you had a spool or lincoln locker you would definitely hear some tire squeal coming around a turn.

I'd say you have an automatic locker. They "ratchet" when going around corners. Only way to know for sure is to pop the cover and take a look.

Don't laugh, but I suppose it's not as easy as just pulling it out?

Well it depends if you have the full carrier locker or a lunchbox, which would replace your spider gears.

Did it happen to come with any spare parts? (I.E., spider and side gears?)

I want to say I remember the original ad said lockrites front and rear. Those wouldn't require anything but sliding out the axle shafts, pulling the lockers and replacing the gears. BUT... If you have to buy new spider and side gears, you could possibly come out ahead if you just find some new axles to throw under it. People almost give them away when they upgrade to a Ford 8.8 and D44. Then you'd have a spare set when you decide to get hardcore with it. :D

Run it. You kinda get use to the Lockrite wiggle after a while.

The only thing you'd likely break or wear out is the locker, and that would just give you an excuse to change it out.
