I have a 75 CJ 5. I had a BESTOP bikini top I have used since 1990. SURPRISING, it finally worn out last summer(2014). I bought NEW BESTOP one this spring.... IT doesn't measure up to the quality of the one I replaced. My biggest gripe is that it does not fit in the channel well. THe material is not pulled tightly over the stiffener, and its very difficult to fit in the channel. The 2nd issue is the seam at the roll bar, it does not follow the radius of the rollbar, so its baggy looking.

I called Bestop, They agreed both of my concerns were valid, and to return it to the seller as warranty issue. I did, and the replacement is.... (ready?) exactly the same.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I will call Bestop and discuss this again. But I'm afraid, this won't remedy the issue, ie, getting me a top that fit like the first one.

I have a 65 and bought one 6 months ago. Price was right. The end that goes in the channel is just folded over. Should have a "bolt rope" stitched to it but it sort of works. Rollbar, same problem. I called and was told that since the 65 did not come with a rollbar they couldn't make one that would fit exactly. They offered to exchange but I kept it. I took it to an auto top shop and he told me to pull it tight and put it out in the sun which I did. I stretched considerably and now fits better. I think the straps are wimpy.

I know mine sucks. Not wide enough to catch the snaps on the windshield frame and the sewn area that goes in the channel was crap from the git go. Nobody makes anything like they used to. Almost nobody.
