I had installed a group 27 battery several years ago and to keep it charged, installed a 63 amp one wire 10si alternator. After completing overhaul and mounting of the winch, now it's time to up the charging system to more amps to keep the battery fully charged during useage, I bought a 100amp 10SI one wire and swapped it over. Power chart that came with alt shows 100 amps @ 3000 rpm, so guess I need to load the battery with useage and see how much it actually helps keeps it charged.

One thing to watch out for, some one-wire alternators don’t start working until the rpm reaches a certain point so on startup you may have to rev it up some or your charging system may not be working. Just something to watch for.

The 3,000 rpm's is the alternator rpm's, not engine rpm's, correct?

Don't forget to upgrade your wiring & fusible link- 100 amps is serious electricity.

I agree, when I had my electric winch, I too upgraded the alt to 100 amp. I fried the std 10 awg wire. wound up making the connections by cutting up 4 awg jumper cables to rewire the alt connections

welp.... thats gooder english...... but you get the point.

I hadn't thought about that that, better go get a heavier fusible link and a heavier lead to my battery.

Every time I start mine I had to do this to get the proper voltage to show on the guage.

My 63amp one wire always showed a spike in amps after reving up the engine, the 100 amp shows a larger spike jump after reaching the proper rpm for the alt, but thanks for the info

It's not safe to leave that in the circuit, best to remove it & get a voltmeter.

Bought a 12-18 volt gauge to replace my amp gauge and picked up a 8 ga wiring kit to replace the 12 ga jumper from the Alt to the battery terminal. Began removing amp meter wiring and jumper, kinda hot here in GA at 94 deg in the shade. So I'll work in the early AM hours to try and beat the heat. gonna have to roll the jeep out of the garage to get access to the underside of the dash.

Installed the new volt gauge and installed the new alt jumper, Changed out some original cloth wiring and tested it out.
