I'm starting to look into winches and most are 21" long or more. I have a solid 16" (best fit) to 18" of useable space to mount a winch. I also plan to sink the winch because I don't like the look of them.

An 8274 probably wouldn't fit because I only have 6.5" from the grill to the x-member.

So far the Warn 9.0Rc is the closest thing I've found that'd fit at 16.xx" wide but it's almost $2k. It'd be worth more than the 3b itself so that's out of the question.

Ideas? I'm looking for older winch specs primarily because I'm buying used.

You can always shorten the drum to narrow the winch. That is all those "Rc" winches are. Or you can just buy a new drum (search "narrow warn winch drum") and try that.

the old Bradens and Sidewinders are probably going to be your best bet. Could always consider some of the heavier ATV winches if space is that much of a premium.
