I am almost done installing the Painless Wiring and on the Instrument Panel section there is not a wire for the Alternator Indicator Bulb/light. It is a 2 wire socket.

    Picture attached below

I put 1 wire (Yellow shown on picture from bulb socket(center wire)to the "I" terminal that is hot with ignition, but I cannot figure out where the other wire (Red in the picture connection comes out of base of socket) connects to. Yes, I did read the TSM and it says it connects to "Alternator (AUX Term) to Inst Volt Reg to Inst Charge Ind"

Any help appreciated so I can finish this up. Thanks

What alternator do you have installed? Motorola/FordMoCo/Delco? Send picture of back of alternator and regulator if one is used.

Alternator and Regulator should be factory. Alt is already installed so hard to take a full back picture. Picture of Alt and Regulator attached.

Just a few minutes after I posted this, Painless support emailed me back with the following:

"The correct way to connect it would be to route the white wire (#914) that is in the Engine Section to the gauge cluster. Use the #914 as the ignition feed to the indicator. The run the cut off portion of the #914 wire from the charge ind. out to the alternator. If you already have an switched ignition 12v source connected to one side of the light, you need to route another wire from the light to the alternator. This would mean you have no need for the white #914 wire in the engine section."

So I guess I will use the #914 wire from the Engine Section wiring to the alternator, then hook the other end up to the Alt indicator bulb wire on the cluster. Won't be too hard as the #914 wire originates inside the firewall at the new fuse block, so just need to run it a few feet to get to the cluster. Sound right?

Yes. The wire to alternator AUX terminal goes to one wire on the indicator light and the other indicator light wire will be fine on the I terminal of the fuel gauge. The AUX terminal will have another wire from it going to the regulator. Originally these were grey.
