Not sure how my setup will work with a Winch yet. But my planning for that includes a Delco 10si Marine grade 105amp Alternator and a Series 31 950CCA commercial grade battery from NAPA and single O welding cable battery cables. I have no doubt this will handle any 8000-9000lb winch. And I do have a hand throttle that can be locked at rpm.

On my tbi kit I got an extra input lead for a toggle switch to bump idle up in addition to the ac compresser input (also to be on toggle). It wasn't a big deal for them. i got to pick the combination of four idle points and was not an extra charge. It pays to ask if you are going that route.

Been doing a little further research on Jeep / winch batteries and I noticed something that I find rather interesting,
I have been a fan of the Northstar batteries for a few years now.
After all they are based and manufactured right here in Missouri.
I knew that the “Batteries Plus” branded “X2” is also made by Northstar.
Upon research of the “Oddessy batteries” I now notice how they appear to be physically identical excepting color. Albeit they claim to have separate parent companies.
So I wonder if all 3……Northstar, X2 , and Oddessy are virtually the same battery.
Does anyone have any ideas regarding this ?
Northstar claims to be thin plate virgin lead while Oddessy claims to be thin plate 99% pure.
This makes some sense to me since Missouri is noted for it’s lead mines.
Looks to me like Ener-sys , the parent company of Oddessy may have bought up the Northstar company.

I have seen vehicles with 3 alternators. This is guys running huge sound systems. I have an XS/Power battery. My thoughts are use the heaviest [weight] battery that will fit in an AGM style.

I searched and compared all 3 brand.
    Compared all specs for group 24, 24F, 24M, 27, 27F, 27M, 31, 31A, and 31M versions.
After taking a close look at these three brands of AGM’s I am fully confident they are virtually the exact same batteries merely using different distributors.
I know that Nortstar Batteries (NSB) never had a very good distribution system and that Batteries Plus did a much better job distributing them.
The Oddessy site makes direct links to NSB and it currently seems to be phasing out of all old stock NSB labeling. That said many of the the NSB labeled batteries are still around through other distributors.
Bottom line seems that Batteries Plus called the X2 has the cheapest distribution prices.

Thank you, for your writeup and link, I will study it further. I have been thinking about this some even though I have a Ramsey 8000 electric on the jeep now. It works fairly well although I think the electric motor is getting tired.
I grabbed a Ramsey dana 20 PTO from a junk TC at the pick and pull a few years back just because it was cheap. It was not on a vehicle but I think it may have been on Jeep pu or Wagoneer?? Maybe too long of a chain case for a CJ.??? I may take some photos and see if anyone can identify what it's for and start a new thread.

I have an ElCheapo one wire Delco and Sears Die Hard AGM (you read that right, the battery is over 12 years old) powering my Warn VR8000 which I skid logs, do farm chores and what all with regularly. It all seems pretty routine. Never been stranded or even burned up one alternator.
