I am sorting out the random bolts and screws in my jeep. The manual indicates that the body is insulated from the frame with insulating shims. The only insulating shim I can find is a steel plate for near the engine. I was expecting to find a rubber bushing or something like I have in my F250. I searched the forum and couldn’t find anything specific.
    Thoughts?

My '71 was close to original when I bought it. I had a few reinforced fabric shims when I replaced my body mounts with rubber bushings. I'm guessing these fabric shims are the insulation (isolation) shims you have referenced. Most were worn out or just on the edge of disintegration.
The new rubber or polyurethane bushings are superior to anything Jeep originally used.
I just installed the new bushings with new hardware and it's been fine.

Insulating as in vibration/ movement reduction, not as in electrical insulation.

Not sure how original mine was, but it had very thin square shims (about 1/8” thick) that looked like thin tire sidewall material. I replaced them with 1/2” thick urethane puck spacers and the ride quality improved significantly. Also made the Jeep a lot quieter too - significantly less rattling.

I have seen shims that look like old fire hose material.

Here’s some pics of one from my ‘70 cj5. They appear to be some sort of rubber material

And strangely enough, tire material works just fine, in my experience.

    Coincidence?? I think not.

My original pads on both ‘65 Tux and ‘66 CJ5 are the same size and material as in post#6, except were closer to 1/4”-5/16” thick.
