Is that Buick v6 including the flywheel?

    How about a 215 or ford 2.3?

Probably not. So add 30lbs for the exta flywheel wieght compared to normal flywheels.

Looks like a 215 is around 325 lbs and so is the Ford 2.3.

I'm not proud of what I did but it's done. The owner is happy though. He's owned the Jeep for 10 years or so and it has never run the entire time he's had it.

Converted my output to delete the ebrake drum. Good buddy Wheelie had the output. Getting an output flange from Nickmil and hopefully a spare retainer for a future spare tcase build. Got the endplay back to .002

About 540lbs so similar to a small block Chevy. It's hard (and expensive) to make lots of power with them but they make great low end torque too. My first car was a 1950 Ford four door. If I could pull forward from a parking spot, I would touch the starter button in 1st gear without the clutch and the car would start and lug off down the road like nothing.

Thx. I, too, love the torque curve. Somebody makes an adapter to mount a Toyota 5-speed trans/transfer behind the flathead Ford. Heresy? I think not.

So to follow up on this, I have now replaced the Rancho shocks up front with some Bilsteins. They are about 1/4" smaller diameter. This allowed me to adjust the steering stop bolts in all the way until they bottom out the threads. The jeep has a tighter turning radius than it ever has, with about 3/16" clearance to the shock body. And yes this model of Bilstein's shock is supposed to be mounted with the rod on the bottom.

I would imagine the Billy's are more expensive than the Rancho's?

It's not exactly what what I did to the jeep today but rather what I did for it.
I have been working on my new shop 1 year and 2 months to do my rebuild in. Yesterday I moved in my big air compressor and blast cabinet with the skidsteer, began installing an air line system. Got my wiring and led lights and internet install finished last week. next week hopefully I have some steel work tables/benches to paint and tool cabinets to bring in. Can't wait to move in my 74 and my 43 MB to begin the real fun work.:bananatool:

My gas gauge stopped working sometime this year. It always reads empty. I suspected a bad fuel sender or bad ground. I removed the driver's seat so I could get to the fuel tank's sender unit. With an almost full tank of gas, the sender measured 25 ohms. The fuel gauge should show something other than empty.

I removed the gas gauge from the dash and tested it with an ohm meter. There was no continuity between the meter's two terminals. Fortunately, replacement meters are still made and I ordered one from Amazon for thirty bucks.

With the new meter installed and the ignition turned on, the meter correctly reads a full tank of fuel. It will probably be next summer before I use up this tank of gas. Maybe I will siphon some gas out of the tank to verify the gauge works.
