Whats best about this is the math class broke out about me grinding off the C's on a whim because I felt like it. I actually could care less what the angles of the front driveshaft are. It smashes into my exhaust right now for optimal self clearancing. Also I mentioned that a Hammer smashed into my self clearance nut to make this all happen.

I love that we can have super low brow idiots delight stuff and higher end engineer stuff in the same thread. Thanks guys!

I hate these ford style shock mounts. They have never worked with this setup. This is the last band aid before I buy a tubing bender cut these off and make new ones. Today I mounted the shocks in the right orientation by making a tab for the top and mounts for the bottom on the axle tube.

I think you can get reasonable shock hoops from WFO and probably Ruffstuff. Unless you just want a tube bender anyway.

I want him to get a tubing bender. Purely for selfish reasons...

Is that shock going to be trapped/ obstructed by the mount?

It should be ok. Its better than it was before. Like I said, if it doesn't work right, I'm done with it and it gets cut off.

Lots of people seem to use those Ford style mounts. I was considering it but, now, I can see how there could be some contact made sometimes. I think they had a cast version that was not a box design. Maybe I'll look for those.

    Bender? ...............Bender?...............Bender?

Oh. Sorry. That was Bueller. My bad.

Never use the ford ones, just make your own. They are a bad fit for a jeep and the more I try to use them the more time I waste.

What did the shock mounts look like when you started? I thought I was gonna order a set, now I'm not sure.

Pick a shock and build your own with a similar design or flare out the bottom of the Ford tower.

yeah, They really don't work great for NT axles. I had to mill off a bunch of the bracket to make them straighter, then when the springs flatten out they move forward and will smack the shock body on the inside of the mount. If it happens again I will either cut the mount to make sure it doesn't happen or just cut them off completely and mail the mangled mess to you while I install ones that work right.

    I agree,
Make your own and never look back. Several Rubicon trips on theses shock towers/shocks without hitting.
Prior damage to the shocks took place when the shock was mounted in front of the axle.

I see you had to cut out the inner fender support. The shock tower looks great with the offset top.

    Yes,
Cutting the inner fender is mandatory with narrow track axles, disc brakes and really flexible suspension. Without raising the entire shock location up, you cannot ensure that it will not get damaged.
The inner fenders were previously cut from mounting the shocks in front of the axle. At some point I'll make a rubber panel that installs with push plugs.

Yes, there is a left and right. And I like the Bilstein shocks, they can run with the shaft down. WFO has their line, listed by travel length.

I have no experience with that. Can you elaborate?
