As it says. I need the seal that goes into the front bearing retainer. All any local auto parts can find is the one for a Ford. The Ford input shaft has a slightly larger O.D. input shaft. I assume the seals are not interchangeable but the parts houses do not have anything and list the Jeep the same as the Ford, even with the differences in the input shaft.

Darn this has been a PIA to get the bell housing on the front of the tranny.

    Thanks Tim.

The part you linked has this: Width=.250"; Shaft=1.250"; Outside diameter=1.7560"; Bore=1.752IN

The input shaft on my tranny is 1.055". When I was looking at the Shaft of 1.250" I figured there were different seals for the different input shaft diameters. After searching all night I see a couple of places where the seal has the numbers and they all match. So I started to think they are all the same seals even though several websites had notations that the seal with the dimensions identically to the above specified ford and sometimes IH. So I go out the the tranny and start measuring again and it seems the shaft, near where it goes into the case, gets a little bigger. As a matter of fact, it gets 1.133".

So I'm thinking that the shafts from right in front of the bearing back, are all the same diameter. They are different size on the "input" part of the shaft, from just in front of the bearings to the end of the splines.

I measured the one in the old bearing retainer (which looks like new) and it measures 1.22". So I guess I'll try the one at NAPA if they have it.

    Thanks Tim.

This is the one that I had for mine...measures 1.75 outside and 1.18 inside...check the pic for any decipherable part numbers. Sourced from Parts Mike. Based on the fact it has 175 and 125 embossed on it, I'm guessing that's a size. My 1.18 measurement is obviously when the seal is "relaxed", I supposed it would go 1.25 when sealing tightly.

There's no shoulder for the seal to ride on?

Not sure what you mean, but the construct of the seal is like any other that I've seen.

I'm thinking about the input shaft, and the diameter.
