Do the dana 44s on 1970 jeepsters have a centered or offset differential? I found one for cheap but befor i drive over an hour to look at it i want to know if it would work in my cj5.

My '69 has a D20 transfercase so, yes, a centered rear axle. I believe mine came with a D35 rear, broke it and I found a flanged 44 to replace it.

Centered. Jeepsters all had the Dana 20.

No 35 in a Jeepster, instead a 30. Famously weak as a rear axle.

Thanks Tim, so it was a 30. I still don't know how I broke it on that easy of a trail.
