I found 2 different models of the T90 shift housing.

They differ by 2 main characters (I will call them by the different tags they carry):
The one with the "T90C-148B" tag is:
    1. having some extra tower on the top
    2. have extra rails length for the shifters to slide
The one with the "T90C-148D" tag doesn't have the extra tower and the extra length for the shifters to slide.
They are having the same 6 bolt pattern.
I belive its easy to see on the 2 pictures attached.

In the front its the "T90C-148B":

On the right is the " ...148B:

I wonder what is the reason for the 2 models, maybe there are more models out there...

The one in the foreground was strictly used on military MC's (M38) and MD's (M38-A1)
The other shift tower was used on CJ's .

Thank you for starting this thread, it was on my mind the other day and I forgot about it until now. :) I have two spare T-90 transmissions I picked up, one is going to be for my M-38. The other I will probably rebuild and sell. I also have two shift towers, both different but neither are correct for the M-38. One tower is tall, the other short. My short one is a T90C-148D. The other one is a tall tower from a Jeep truck with the T-90J trans. The stamping is T90-148, it is considerably taller and has a long shifter.

Ziv, would you be willing to part with the 148B tower? I have a 52 M38 I'm planning on restoring. Thanks.

Are the internals all the same? Shift rails and forks? I would think so but, please confirm or deny.

Yes the internals are basically the same.
(Meaning the shift forks will align.)
They are fully interchangeable as an assembly.
I have an original M38 shift tower that I could part with.

    One more thing:
In the "...148D" there is one more port. Maybe for reverse light switch ?

If you look at the military model they should have threaded plugs on the end of the shift rail bores instead of press in plugs or simply being open. This minimizes leaks or water intrusion.

The one in the foreground of the first picture has the "grove" in the top for a water sealing gasket where the selector shaft enters the transmission. I forgot about the threaded plugs for the shift rails, good catch NICMIL. Ziv that port in the lowest picture is for the reverse light actuator, in Pennsylvania if you have that tower assembly you have to wire it up, sell that one so you don't have to wire that circuit.
