What years do the Half cabs and full tops fit early CJ5s? Because I remember reading about how the windshield frames are different on certain years? The reason I'm asking is because I found a half cab that is close to me but apparently it will only fit 72-75 but mine is a 1957?

The poster of the ad is wrong. If it fits a '75 with the original windshield, it will fit the '71 and earlier CJ-5s and '6s. There are two windshield styles, changing with the 1976 model year. Nearly everything changes for the 1976 model year. Make sure the Jeep has the original windshield, with the wiper motor in a can on the outside - drivers side of the windshield. In 1976 the motor moves into the passenger cabin, and this indicates the later windshield.

The OP's 57, if original, would have top mounted wipers with individual motors.
Otherwise, the info above is correct. To sum up, there are several different types of windshield frame for 55-75 CJ5, but they are all the same overall dimensions so top fitment doesn't change.

Don't forget the FlatFender Jeeps. Tops were made for all of them. And won't fit the CJ5's.

Mine has the original windshield with one wiper motor and a hand crank wiper for the passenger.

Some of the earlys came with just a drivers seat and one windshield wiper. Every thing else was an option you had to order or ask for.

The single seat continued at least through the intermediates. Without ordering a passenger seat, a Jeep would come through with just a driver's bucket seat. Both wipers were present though... likely required by law by then.

Going by the pictures the jeep has the original windshield because the windshield wiper is externally mounted on the outside of the frame.

Nothing for me to add except that style hardtop would look cool on your Jeep. :coffee::)

The only thing I might add is that those aluminum tops were low quality when new. Most that I see these days have stress cracks and look like a airplane that has crashed a couple times. For that price point you should be able to find a much better quality Meyers cab in the $400-500 range. That top is probably from the late 50's to early 60's so obviously it fits earlier years. Yes it could be 60 years old. The best way to tell a flatfender top from a 5 is to look at the roof. A 5 top is square and a flatty tapers in for the narrower windshield frame.

Timgr, my '62 has the motors in the passenger cabin. They have been upgraded from vacuum to electric. There are still traces of the vacuum system visible, if one looks closely. Since this is the case, could I still have a '62 windshield, or do you think my windshield is from a later model? If so, how will that affect me when I try to put a soft top on it?

If the wiper motors are mounted on the inside above the windshield, then you most likely have a '62 windshield.
