The correct shocks for my CJ are Heavy Duty Monroe 1-3/16". Fronts pn# 921896 and Rear pn# 921897.

I went to Monroe's website and it gives me a pn# 32207 for the fronts and pn# 31000 for the rears.

The rears fit perfectly but the fronts are 2" to short.

Does anyone know what the difference between the original jeep pn's are? Is there a way to look up the original specs?

The parts manual shows part number 921896 only for the Tux park model.
I believe the correct part number(s) would be 909698 or 921890.
Difference in length, maybe, don't know.

The service manual only shows one set of specs. The parts manual shows several different shocks.
I am assuming that the shocks that are listed in the FSM are for the spring packs above it on the same page which lists the 10 leaf front and the 5 leaf rear.

My Jeep has the 12 leaf spring packs front and rear, and the specs for the Renegade calls out the Heavy Duty Monroe 1-3/16" shocks. Front pn# 921896 and Rear pn# 921897.
When I had my oem springs re-arched, he looked up the pn stamped on the springs #942165 and #916092 and arched them according to their original specs. This gave me an eye to eye on the rear of 19 3/8" and an eye to eye on the front of 19 3/4"
I am assuming that since mine came stock with the HD 12 leaf spring pack that it would have also come with the HD shocks?

I called Monroe directly and they were able to give me a shock for the front (32377) that has a fully extended length of 19 3/4" so in theory it will work.

That's a great find. I like the AMC sticker on the Kaiser Jeep box.

I could have told you what color they were. And that they were Monroe.

    Takes me back ...

I expect they applied the AMC sticker to all the parts stock they had on hand at the warehouse. Would have been a current part in 1970, the year of the change-over.

I already knew that they were Monroe, HD's etc. What I didn't know was the OEM color of said shocks. I posted up twice I think looking for the answer, but no one could remember the color. Even had Wyomike digging through his old pics looking :)
I must have slipped one of the posts past you
