Okay guys, I promise, this is my last transfer case/drivetrain question!

Companion flange, e drum, and backing plate came out no issues. The old seal installed in there was set just halfway deep, is that correct? Shouldn’t it seat all the way in?

I’m gonna get a new double lipped one, like I installed in the front output. But scratching my head on how far to seat it. That hole is much deeper than the front output.

also gonna throw on a new speedo cable too.

    seal bottoms out
when it was original . there was a felt seal on top of seal too (dust shield )
don't forget to put silicone on splines too

If you really want to seal it, you can stack two SKF 15655 seals in that recess. If you do that, give them a good coating of wheel bearing grease. You have to leave the felt seal out from under the companion flange but this worked GREAT in my 3B.

    Thanks to all!

Ron, I’ve heard a few guys mention the silicone on the splines. Do you put some on before sliding the yoke on? Seems like all of it would just push to the back. Or do you put a little on after seating the yoke, under the washer?

I smear it on inside of yoke with my finger
so when you slide on yoke it pushes out not in
