Purty, but I don't think I believe the 462 part, too many wrong or missing parts.

I don't know the seller, but I know that Keith Fuller worked with Jim Allen and Bill Norris on the only accurate article on 462's, and if Keith Fuller authenticated it, I believe it.

Not to argue with an expert, but how does one authenticate a 462? If the pictures of the Johnny Cash Jeep linked in the ad is supposed to be a 462, it shows a different roll bar, tire carrier, windshield frame color, hood mount reflectors just to name a few differences.

for that kind of cash i would expect the thing to look like it just rolled off the assembly line this thing is far from that "462" or what ever the body was. everything about it screams half assed restoration

The dishonesty and misrepresentation in that add is disgusting.
Overspray, repainted valve covers but not engine, wrong windshield, no hood reflectors, windshield latches half painted red.....
I'm no Jeep snob or purist; but that's not even $30,000 level work if the guy wasn't lying....
The only thing that jeep has in common with a "462" is the red paint.
I'm gonna shine my jeep up and call it "Original Rubicon edition" survivor. Complete with patina, lockers, renegade wheels, and rare dual fuel tank option.....
First one with $30k takes it.

I agree with fake. Looks to me like a throw on some spray paint, don't worry about missing spots restoration.

I'm not understanding the "heavy duty frame" story either. Looks like a regular frame to me. No argument about the heavy duty springs though. Salvage title?

I think Renegades got extra frame reinforcement....I don't remember the details. Maybe that was part of the 462 package as well.
My mom used to have a 71 RII & it had leaf springs like that. Rode like a dump truck but cornered great! :)

Hmmmm. Ad has been updated, and all references to the 462 package have been removed. Still claims it's a 'limited-production model". It would be interesting to know what month it was manufactured and if the frame serial number matches the body tag.

And price lowered to $25,000 (original price was $30k). And what happened to the “Keith fuller authentication” documents?

I only live about 20 minutes from this seller. I’d gladly go check it out, but I’m nowhere near a Jeep historian and wouldn’t know what to look for.

Hi All, sorry for my delayed post. The 462 is my cl sales post and you can ask me directly or better Keith "as he will soon be joining this thread". Keith is the top 462 expert anywhere he is best to direct questions to. He authenticated "documented with pictures" my jeep a year earlier from the prior 462 jeep owner. After my purchase he helped me locate parts and other over the past 2 years. sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/orinda-rare-1969-johnny-cash-462-cj-jeep/7512848615.html

Welcome Matt, glad you've joined the forum and even have an avatar pic in your profile!

We are a picky (and knowlegable) bunch around here, probably because we are so interested in this vintage of jeeps! It's all good.

Hi, the Cash jeep has the original whitco swing tire carrier and roll-bar, mine were replaced by the prior owner years ago "existing tire carrier holes and some of old roll bar exist. Back in 1969 stock jeeps had side of jeep mounted wheel placements and my jeep has no pre-existing holes in that location. The windshield was black but during my local painting it was by error painted red. The hood mount reflectors are in the back but holes still exist up front and i may have put them back in wrong location. Thanks Matt
