I don't normally paint stuff like that, but my son really wanted to. The cast iron paint was our compromise.

 

Ok, so it's been probably 20 years since I had to do this....what's the best way to determine lengths for my drive shafts?

Once you are done, the darkness of low gearing will consume you.

 

Your passenger side exhaust looks to pass below the bell housing. A Waldron exhaust system will pass under the transmission, but still be just above the skid plate. That's what I have, with stock forward dump driver's manifold.

Are those stainless bolts holding the transmission on? I'm not that familiar with the 2-hash head marking.
And, for what it's worth, I had a pro driveshaft shop fab both my shafts and they said no need for long stroke since I only had a mild lift and no shackle reversal. They did, however, insist on heavier wall tubing than stock.

 

Both driveshafts are at the driveshaft shop right now.

That's what I was thinking about, but it'll require reworking the rest of the exhaust too.
More $$$$$...

 

Mine is Saginaw.

 

One more piece of the puzzle today (well, actually 2 more!)
Rear shaft shortened a couple of inches.
My new front shaft is actually an extra rear shaft I had laying around, that I had re-tubed to work on the front.

 

I have power Saginaw. The box is moved inboard about 4 inches so as to alleviate some of the common interference issues (mostly a PO effort). Yes, the engine support bracket had to be notched to clear the steering shaft.

 

Well, the trans is leaking between the case and the adapter. IDK how I ****ed that up but I guess it's coming back apart

I had a similar frustration with my conversion. I installed a new parking brake drum and shoes. I had a weird vibration that I couldn't isolate immediately. I had the transfer case off and the parking brake off several times trying to figure it out. The new brake drum was out of balance to I just put the old one back on.

How cheap is cheap?

 

check the gaskets out well there are a few anomalies not all the available gaskets fit right.

 

That actually makes sense...I've been wondering how I could have f***ed that up.
It's a gasket between 2 hunks of cast iron and I gave everything a nice coat of Right Stuff when I put it together...
