What i have is 1966 Jeep. It was ordered with the paint code 224 (White Cap) that color was stopped for at least two/three years prior that i can tell. This jeep is completely original and even though it has the front tow bar, according to its previous and original owner it was never towed behind anything and they believe the mileage of 14,000 is correct. it does run and drive but does not stop ((YET)). The second owner did not like the white so he painted it green in 1970. here are my two questions:
    1. When this guy ordered this he did get the White Cap paint, also we have the paint code tag that reflects this. If this is true and after reading what i know of from the web, does it increase the value to repaint it in the same color or should we keep the patina to preserve as much as we can?
    2. The mechanical fuel was bypassed a long time ago and it is "Kaput", so i changed it to a new 3.5 pump and left the mechanical pump in place. I removed the not original electric (in a box). Should i return this to a mechanical pump and if so would it be reliable for Sunday cruising?
    Thank you for your time,
    Patrick
We are selling it and that is why i am asking the questions.

Never heard of White Cap. My '66 Tux came through in Glacier White as far as I can tell. I could be missing something though.

Nothing wrong with a mechanical pump. And they are not expensive. As I buyer, I'd prefer to see a new mechanical on it.

Your Tux is actually a '64 or '65 model and is in fact White Cap from the dash color. Your title may say its a '66, but its not. Its not terribly uncommon to be titled a year (or two) after it was made. My '65 Tux my dad bought new is really a '64.
Your Tux has a column shift which was only found on the '64/'65 models. By '66, a V6 was available and all models got a cane shift transmission.
Post up your serial number and we can tell you what month/year it was made. I'll bet it is a '65.
There were only 4 colors available for the first two years of Tuxes; red, white, light blue, and a pastel light green. Your Jeep wasn't ordered in a special color. It just one of the four colors that they came in for this model. I would return it to its original White Cap if I were repainting, but I doubt it would add much more value unless you are doing a proper and complete restoration. The cost of a proper restoration would likely cost more than you could sell it for.
I see your missing the chrome front bumper. Do you have the chrome rear bumper, and the swing-down license light on the tailgate? These are hard-to-find Tux pieces.
You would likely get about as much money as it is without the expense of a repaint. That way a buyer could paint/build it as they wish.

    This machine is #8322 15025
The only thing missing is the hubcaps and I would be looking to get some since it belongs on the vehicle. it is 100% original down to the Brake shoes and drums and lines.

A new lesson for me. White cap is a color I didn't know exited.

Donnie, am I correct about my 1966 Glacier White? The paint/trim tag is missing so I've just gone off pictures of paint color options for 1966 Jeep.

The Cutlas Deluxe Full Turbine hubcaps are very very difficult to find. And to find in a decent condition, are very expensive.

Dave, Your '66 will be Glacier White. The paint code for Glacier is #395, used from '66-'70.
