Well boys I finally dragged all her bits and pieces to the house!!!

    The good news:

The jeep is "complete" fenders, hood, grille, lights, roll bar, seats, etc and the chassis is in VERY reasonable shape

    The not so good news:

Almost every seam of the tub is 99.9% iron oxide, but being the glass half full type this presents me with the opportunity to practice problem solving, sharpen my welding skills and show my wife that I did need the Syncrowave 300 I drug home a few months ago (she will not care)

    More to follow...

well, that wasn't so bad! Unfortunately, I snapped these photos... spent some time digging through old paint and bondo and managed to find enough steel to weld to. So I went into the house to call my local steel supplier and by the time I got back outside I had just enough time to get a coat of rattle can primer on the bare metal and put tools away before the skies opened up. Stay tuned

Awesome! That's all I've uploaded so far... also, should this be in the builds section?

Enough about the pictures. I'm torn between getting 16ga for its added rigidity and 18ga for ease of fabrication... thoughts?

I think I heard in another recent thread that folks preferred 18g for workability.

I can't see the images, but I look forward to watching your project.

The thinnest sheet I could get was 16 gauge and on my recent redo I used 11 gauge. The 18 gauge would be a lot easier to work with and what was used from the factory from my understanding. Your pics are not showing up BTW.

You might be on to something.

    3rdjen,
You need to change the media sharing settings with the group. Only mods can see your pictures.

I see the pictures. I don't see a tailgate on your tub. What year is it?
