    Scott-

I've been looking fo one for 4-5 years now with no luck. I'm planning at this oint to just go and have one made to fit over the rollbar I retrofitted to my '2As tub.
I'm running a Bestop Tigertop, and plan to use the same channel on top of the windshield for the anchor point there.

From what I've found, the earliest Bikini tops made commercially are from the 55 and later CJ-5. These are several inches too wide at the windshield, since flatfenders' tubs are tapered from the middle of the doors to the windshield frame.

    Ideas?

You guys are looking for 2a bikini tops. Are you both using 2a frames ? Square corners, 2 piece glass ? The only reason I ask, I run the 3a frame on my 2a. This frame has round corners and 1 piece glass. I bought a 3a bikini top from Kayline many years ago. It slides into the channel on the w/s frame, goes over the sand bar and actually drops quite a bit, but does not cover rear seat passengers. It came with grommets installed for securing to the corners of the body and I use footman loops.

My frame has rounded corners and 1 piece glass. What does that make it?

    Thanks

Scott, you may have a 3a frame. If you do, the channel the top slides into would be attached on the outside of the w/s frame. Go look. I would think any upholstery shop could make one for you and rather easily. The w/s frames can be moved around between 2a, 3a, m38, etc. I wasn't trying to take over your conversation, just thought I could help.

Jim, You are correct. The channel is on the outside of the frame. So this makes it a 3a frame?

    Thanks

I believe so. It is definitely not a 2a frame. So try looking around for a 3a bikini top. They attach differently than a 2a. Or see if a uphol shop can make one for you.
    Good luck !

I have a source in OH that my dad used. My dad's at Hershey right now for the swap meet so I can't ask him. I'll let you know as soon as I can or if the name comes to me.

This guy makes them, is cheaper than Beachwood Canvas (good friends of mine), and custom designed one with my dad and now offers it for sale.

    Will post their link soon.

Here's some bikini top info for CJ2A/CJ3A I just found over on POR:
    ************************
"STC makes what they call a 'roll bar top' for the CJ-2A. They also make one for the CJ-3A if your windshield has been swapped like so many have.

You can buy these tops from Turner 4WD at http://www.thejeep.com or Northstar Willys at http://www.northstarwillys.com/catalog.htm. There may be others who carry them as well.

Hope this helps someone here.... :)

Thanks Lynn for the info and links.
My Kayline bikini top is now over 20 years old and in very good shape.
I don't think you can get one made locally any cheaper IMO

Hey all, I have had good success narrowing a bikini top for a CJ5. A winshield channel from anything will work, it just needs to be narrowed. Then you can cut a strip of bikini about 2 or 2.5 inches wide out of each side. Any seamstress or boat cover type place can stich the ribbing back on. I have gotten a pretty good fit, even over a custom cage with one of these. They are relatively cheap from a 4wd hardware, or Quadratec type place.
I marked the side with a marker, and cut with a regular pair of scissors. No complaints, and not real expensive. These Bestop Bikinis will work with a variety of channels and a snap can be added on the outside vertical tube of a 2A w/s frame. New snaps, and you are ready to go.

You can still buy the Kayline Top it is now sold thur

    http://www.specialtytopco.com/

Go to their price list of CJ-3A tops and it is listed there for $56-57.00 I just looked at it.

I seriously doubt you will have one custom made for anywhere near that price.

They also list a square corner 2A roll bar top (Bikini top)

You could also have an M38 frame. The difference is in the veny, the 3a is hinged, and the M38 unbolts. I used a bikini top for a Wrangler on my M38. Fits great, and I didn't have to custom make anything. They are easy to find too.
