I'm installing my new e-brake cables and can't remember where the bracket mounts to the crossmember. A pic of the area where the front and rear cables come togather on a 1975 CJ5 would be awsome. I've searched and had no luck. Manuals show the components and how they fit togather, but not shown actually on the frame. Help please........:?

I'm desparate..........I'll be out of computer range from 430p today until monday morning. If somebody can post something by this afternoon, I could button up the chassis work this weekend and start mounting the new tub next week.

Well........I am still at a point where I can't get out of brainlock on this issue. I'm considering fabricating something if I can't get a photo from someone on the area where the cables come togather. This is the problem you run into when you've had a vehicle torn down for 5 years.

    Oh, sorry, I was brain-farting.
I was stuck on the pedal.
You need a pic of the equalizer and where it goes.

I won't be in jeep range until this weekend.

Maybe somebody has a pic of where the single cable splits into two at the equalizer bar?

I grabbed this off of ebay.

Thanks dude, yeah, I actually need the pic to show the spot on the crossmember where the three cables come togather. I am missing some sort of bracket that the front cable mounts to.

In the pic, is the part labeled "8.224-1" representing the crossmember??? If not, where should it be located on the frame? This is my crisis. My crossmember does'nt have a bracket for the front cable to mount in. The diagram is great for the parts ID, but I need an actual photo of someone's stock rig so I can see what is missing on my frame. Sorry for being such a pain.

I'm not at home, but I thought the bracket was on the bottom of the tub centered around the rear of your rear drive shaft almost directly above the rear u-joint. I was looking at it the other day and can't remember exactly. Look there. Look straight up from under your rear shaft and see what is in the area. I know this because I zip tie my driveshaft to the adjusting screw on the equalizer to hold it up when I am doing rear end work. I'm probably just making this all up. Way too much beer drinking when working on my CJ.

the part shown is the bracket you need.
This bracket would then be bolted to the crossmember.
I would guess and say on top of the crossmember, so it doesn't hang down.
sorry, all the help I can offer

I am sooooo very greatful for your help. Thank you for the effort to get those pics. I owe you several:beer:
Could I trouble you for the measurement between the bracket face and the crossmember???? This would complete my mission and send me to the next level of construction.
It's clear from these pics that anyone with a fiberglass tub has this issue to deal with. I wonder if it's better to make an extra crossmember to mount the bracket too, or will the tub floor handle the job without any stress problems??? Any input is appreciated.

This is why this site is so well liked by the Jeep fraternity.................taking time to help others!!!

Another great picture. I've decided to make a new crossmember to anchor the cable to. This way the brake system is dedicated to the chassis and not stressing the glass floor of the tub.

    Thanks again guys........
