Was there a Jeep model that was sold with 15x8 Kelsey-Hayes steel wheels as original equipment? I bought a 71 CJ5 from PA that had them on it and they fit fine on there but they won't fit on the later models with bigger drums. Once the tires were dismounted, it revealed the original black paint and KH stickers inside.

CJ-5s certainly came with them. They were most commonly known to be on the Renegade I, I had a '69 that was a utility work vehicle that had them as well.

Ok, that's good news. I'm sure I'll hang on to these then. Probably not many complete sets out there??

Would KH have painted them black and then put white on the exposed side??? When the tire shop stripped them of the tires and hardware, there was white paint under the locations of the wheel weights. I don't want to sand blast 'em before finding this out.

 I don't know that paint would be any identifier. The width is the dead giveaway. There's pictures in the picture bank section of the photo gallery.

I don't know beans about the KH wheels, but its is my understanding that jeep painted the inside (back) of the rim black, and the front "white", at least that is the way my stock (non KH) wheels were. Probably the way the KH wheels were done also. Not an "identifier" though.

    Well, they look like this....
I'd love a set, painted white, with chrome baby moons...Although the KH don't appear to have the hubcap "bumps".

My spare has the bumps, may get a baby moon off of my friend for it.
But I'm 80% sure my 4 wheels and other spare are KH's. Not to hijack.

Kelsey Hayes made alot of wheels.

Just the 15x8" are rare. Plenty of discussion here in the forum in the past and pictures in the pic bank.

I have the original spare from my 1970. All of the options for the Renegade 1 package are on the CJ5, however, my spare rim isn't 8" wide and the tire on it is an H70. This looks correct. Without the 8" rims was this just a highly optioned CJ5 not a renegade 1?

According to the 1971 W-1195 R2 Parts Catalog the wheels used for Renegade I could be W/O part # 930047 which are the 5.5" wide x 15" Kelsey Hayes.
Yet I suspect most buyers preferred the W/O part # 994733 which are 8" wide x 15" Kelsey Hayes.

to add, KH made 15X8 steel wheels for ford f100/f150s that will fit over larger drums and some disks. they don't have the same center shape as the ones that were sold on Jeeps.

would all KH wheels have 'KH' stamped on the inside as i have previously seen?? i picked up a set today that looks to be the same exact thing as some pictures on here, but the only markings ive found on them is a small '15x8' on them. ill take a better look tomorrow
