Throw-Out Bearing Question

Well, after finally getting my t-18 swap done, I just discovered another dilemma.

The new clutch kit I originally installed during the swap came with a 3- finger type pressure plate. It was too firm for my liking.... very tough to push.

So I decided to take it out, and re-use the diaphragm type pressure plate that was in there. It was still in like-new condition.

I left the new clutch plate, and the new throw out bearing in there. I got the 1" of free play, and the tranny shifts pretty easily.(I just have to work on squaring up my mechanical linkage a little better. It has an "over-center" feel to the push.)

Here's the dilemma: I just read that a diaphragm type pressure plate requires a different throw out bearing, due to the fact that it doesn't have to travel as far to engage. I have the 3-finger type throw out bearing mixed with a diaphragm type pressure plate.

How bad is this? Can I live with it, or will I regret not pulling the tranny for a third time and replacing the bearing?

As long as you can adjust the clutch so it works correctly, I don't see what it cold hurt. May be a little shorter or longer but they both spin at the same RPM. May be wrong, but if it wears out fast you know how to drop the trans.

 

Yeah, that's what I figure, but I ordered the right throw out bearing, anyway, and am going to install it right away.
