If I wanted to relocate my battery/ or batteries to the cowl location~ I don't see how to remove this battery cover to make it happen?

I like the older rims and those gnarly old tires (and aggressive tread) just because they're radically different from modern stuff.
I think that tire pattern and/or tire is still available... STA Super Traxion®

I'm guessing it's no longer a removable panel (?) because the CJ's and the military M38A1's were made in the same factory and that lid was made non-removable because civilian Jeeps had no need for it.

The cover is vestigial from the M38A1 mil model, from which the CJ-5 was derived. Just covers the hole and is welded on, AFAIK.

It's the length of two batteries, because the M38A1 was/is a 24V system.

Today Robo and I moved the frame outside, used the crane to lift the frame as needed. We bought the wet sandblast system from Northern tool and 2 - 50lb bag of media at 4.98 per bag. I'm impressed by the blaster! We didn't take the completely off, but it would have. Robo did the blasting which was fine with me! Rain is supposed to set in over the next couple days (hope hope), but we have plenty to do. It's so difficult to get my brother to push the button to order parts! grrr;) I have a gallon of phosphoric acid of which I wiped down the frame after blasting. IT prevents flash rusting. Nasty stuff but works well. I think we're just going to Krylon paint it black, but I prefer a cheap HF paint gun to paint it.
    I'll be back;)

Hi, my how time flies! 1) What's a good place to buy the alternator conversion from? It's just a GM alternator, right? The new wiring harness (EZ) will be plug and play?
    2) Transmission and transfer case: I didn't drive it, but Robo says it shifted fine and wasn't noisy, but does leak out the front seal. I honestly don't want to get into the clunk of cast iron, so, what should I (we) do?
Other than that, Rob's finally getting around to ordering parts, almost had to break his harm to hit the button on the first order! lol

It's not so much about spending money, it's finding the best deals to save some money;)

Rob n I moved the frame to my larger area to dry sand blast areas which needed it, then wiped it down, then sprayed it. Parts are in route, so maybe Monday we can start some frame re-assembly;)

Well, my brother didn't make it over to play, so got busy. Didn't get as far as I'd like, but at least got the clutch and bell housing installed.;)

This bearing was a little tough to pull off, but my bearing remover from HF got the job done, actually came off pretty easy. I just need to review a few parts to assure I have them in the correct order. But early next week, the trans and transfer case will be back in its rightful place.

I ordered new bearings, gasket and seal for the Koenig PTO 1 lever from Hermtheoverdriveguy. This should be fun;)

Hi guys;) I've made so much progress; got the transmission done(overhauled it myself; wasn't too bad).
the pic of before and after looked kind of neat~
    [IMG]

just mounted half the PTO casing to see how the new exhaust was going to work, had to heat the exhaust pipe in various places to make it fit, and it did, does;)

Here, someone had a wheel mounted on the side and hit a tree so I was told. I spoke with Mark OBrien at Classic Enterprises, in that I needed a patch panel and he fabricated one for me! about 90 bucks. Got a little ways to go on it, but it's taking shape. I'll(we) be working on the tub over the next couple weeks, fix it up, paint it some fabulous color, then put it back on the frame. Shouldn't be too long before starting it;)

nice job on the jeep and also your TR6! Two suggestions, one try a needle scaler to remove rust, the work great for removing off road concrete and take a good look where the pto driveline and the exhaust pass over the crossmember. I have a diesel in mine with 3" exhaust and things just cleared until I put a good load on the winch, the frame apparently flexed enough to let things touch which removed some parts that wont grow back. I am adding a pillow block on the crossmember so things will play nice.
    Keep up the awesome work

Onto some of the more fun stuff; paint n body, labor intensive? yes, but it is a tangible progress. We've mixed up a batch of epoxy primer and I'm fixing to shoot it;)

Since mom had passed away just a couple months ago, this is great therapy for us both. I'm using an 3m Accuspray system, pricey but I love it! I'm also using a Breathe cool fresh air respirator, the main unit is in the AC part of the shop for refreshing cool air as I play. Rob's just keeping my hoses from tripping me.

Far from finished, it's just in epoxy followed by 3 coats of high build primer, lot of work to do yet.

Got a lot done today, but when painting a wheel(test) and the grill assembly, it was supposed to be a flat black, came out too glossy, but we'll reaccess in the morning to see how the paint did. The weather is supposed to be really good this weekend after the rain/cold front. Should be able to get a lot done with the paint n body part;)
Don't have a pic of the paint, but it's going to be a flat type orangish color. Should look neat;)

Are you going to use the same orange as on your Mustang? Oh and when are you going to put your jeep on your website?
