Unless I was building a Jeep for the concours show circuit, I would go with a Saginaw conversion, manual or PS. The Ross has too many wear points built in, at best a 50 year old design by Rube Goldberg. Plus the crapshoot of getting good quality replacement parts is not very appealing. Nothing against 100 point restorations, just not my cup of tea. For something I drive every day I like Saginaw PS conversion with hydroboost power disk brakes. Too much work building a Jeep to risk it on obsolete engineering. Whatever you choose, good luck!

PS Living in Alaska bears out what others have stated, a plow truck is probably the worst service for a vehicle. steering, brakes, ujoints, transmissions, axles etc are commonly abused to the point of failure.
