Any and all help would be appreciated.

    Unsure...
Purchased the frame from another member on this board..
there was a 231 in there when he purchased it.. but he never had it running..

I dont see why there would be a problem.. few good bolts are better than some peoples crappy welds..

Spot weld cutter, and time and patience...

That was actually the worst part of the body work..
ended up drilling WAYY to many holes b/c I couldnt find all of the spot welds.
Once the floor was down to bare metal it wasnt so bad...
Drill holes in the new hats and plug welded it in.

    I lied...
I did do some work over the summer... Late nights when I couldnt fall asleep.. I retreated to the basement and rebuilt my ross box..

Pictures are not in any order.. but they show the complete teardown and rebuild..
It is now in paint, gloss black water based (sucks) took forever to dry without propper heaters etc...
I will prob bolt it in this week.. have to go to the shop to pick up a few tools..

The owner of this 5 had the 231 running before I owned it/sold it to Arie and from what he told me they were plenty strong just bolted in place. I too looked at them with a hairy eyeball and even planed to remove them for original 225 motor mounts. I am fairly certain that the AA mounts utilized some sort of crush sleeve within the walls of the frame. As far as for the 231 never running, she was plenty seized when I got the 5. If I was to go back to this project I would stitch weld the AA mounts to the frame rails.

I might throw a quick bead on the top since I have access to it..
and possibly on the side if I can clean them up good enought.. But the Y pipe is in and quite honestly I spoke with AA and they assured me of the bolt in design..

I made sure there were grade 5 bolts in there.. im not worried.. this jeep wont be wheeled..

Pulled the D18 yesterday to change out the output seals and oil pan gasket...
Seemed like a good idea... I could do it in the basement on the bench rather than hunched over on the floor in the shop..

Ran all new brake lines and wheel cyl..

Mundane chores before the body goes on.

    *Some Updates 1/4/2011*
Did some work over the break on the Jeep..

Before I mount the tub I found it silly to no go through the Transmission and Tcase. A bit of a backwards move on my part, but better now than later.
My overdrive is on backorder till 1/20/2011...
I have no other option but to mount the body before installation. I am going in for knee surgery on 1/17/2011 so I wanted to get the body on before hand to feel somewhat accomplished.
All new seals, bearings, and general goodness, not just a paint job…
You can see the complete body in the background just waiting to be bolted on…

WOW... has it been this long...
took this Jeep out of moth balls today and threw it on a trailer...

Life has gotten in the way of my little project.... building a business empire, tending to a new 16 month son, moving and general other stuff...
I have managed to tend to others in my flock, and acquire some more... but this CJ needs a jump start....

I have decided to not throw in the towel, but pass it along for a bit to SVE performance in CT...
Bill has agreed to give me a nice jump start and get this project back rolling....

More updates and hopefully and end in site....

this is the whole reason why I got a fire under my ***....
Michael loves my trucks... he plays in them, grabs the wheel and moves the levers...

this jeep started off for him and would like to get it done for me...

Bill finally got the parts and started to work on this guy...

ends up the 4cyl firewall and the 6cyl firewall are a tad different.. obviously only something bill would know and where most of us would have taken a hammer, bill sourced a 6cyl firewall and made the adjustment the correct way...

How is the firewall different? It's hard to tell from your pic what's going on there.....
