I have a 73 cj5 with the egg shaped grille parking light holes in it but I don't have the lights themselve. As I live in the Netherlands, second hand examples are pretty non-existent. If I look at new examples of Crown online they are made of plastic and have that plastic look to them. Because of that I like the grille parking lights from 76 and up better and the bonus is that I can order them here in the Netherlands.

My question is that I want to use the 76+ lights. The 76+ lights need 2 screws and the 72-75 need three screws to mount. Can I re-drill the grille to use the 76+ lights and do they cover the egg shaped holes that are in the grille entirely?

    Thanks,

    Sander

I have a 79 out back and a 75 in the barn. If no one answers your question by tomorrow afternoon I can pull one of the lights off the 79 and check how it fits in the 75, I could check now but it is dark and scary outside and I am warm and comfy inside. Frank

The 76 and newer lights will not just fit into the 72-75 grill as the 76 and newer are completely round and the 72-75 have a notch in them where the tear drop is. You will have to cut out that section on the grill and need to be careful not to take too much material off so you can then re-drill the 2 holes for the newer lights. It will work and you will not see the original holes but it will have to be done very carefully. Good luck
