I got the new motor installed on my winch, so it is functional now. I'm considering replacing the oil in the gearbox with Cornhead grease. It seems that it would be suitable for this application, but I'm looking for advice/feedback on the idea.

Hmmm. my Belleview calls for 30wt oil I am thinking that the cornhead grease will not flow enough to lube the small needle bearings and low rpm nylon bushings. But hey it would stop any leaks

corn head grease in my knuckles and ross box...it would seem it seperates ? and and the thin stuff runs out as i can attest...ive wondered if this is normal.
drips and puddles...not alot but definatly leaking. its been sitting and my thought is it needs to be "stirred up" with use...???

During my overhaul I installed a 1/8"npt hole in the bottom of the case for ease of draining lube out of it.

From what I have gathered, it is designed for lower RPM type use and "flows" more as it is working. Being grease, I'm thinking maybe less prone to leaking. It may be used in cold conditions, so that is a consideration too. More feedback welcome....

I am curious to find out what you used and how it's working for you?

I haven't changed or added lube in my winch yet, It will be a while before it gets reinstalled on the Jeep. The jury is still out...I haven't decided what I will use.

I'm going to re-work my mounting too. Maybe just under my bumper. It's not in great shape, but I don't want to butcher my chrome Tux bumper.
