Dash Light Options

Hey all,

I want to install a charging light and at least turn signal indicators as the Speedo ones are just to small and far away for my comfort.

What have you used for your dash lights? Links and pics appreciated.

Also for the alternator light does it have to be a incandescent bulb or will LED still work to gain the effect for diode work to prevent motor from continuing to run after shut off?

Also, can i just run the turn signal indicators in with the turn lights without impacting the flasher that regulates the "blink"?

 

Dorman 1815 fit for single wire lights.
As for the amp, an incandescent is easiest. If you use an led, you'll need to add a resistor and that just doesn't seem worth it to me.
Fyi, I put led's in mine and it seems like they're just too bright. The light bleeds through to everything else.

 

x2... if you use LEDs make sure they are dimmable and sneak a dimmer switch in there. I would just stick with the normal ones.. might cost you $2 every 10-30 years.

 

Whats wrong with the light on the turn signal switch?

 

Mine only lights on the left of the column.

 

I would use a regular incandescent bulb for an alternator light, if I wanted one.

Working out the use of an LED is specific to the LED and type of alternator you use. You need to current-limit the LED based on the spec of the LED. Put unlimited current through an LED and poof.
