I wish I'd have had more time to visit.

I painted old Nixon Hamstead green a long time ago. It's Duplicolor as someone mentioned.

I'll see if I can find pics. Oh and someone's already posted one pic of the front of it.

It holds up to temperature fine, but I soiled it with "Super Clean". Made a film over the surface of the paint.

Recieved a color test panel from Beeser the other day and just got the chance to compare against a set of valve covers. I think the color is very close. Maybe missing the slightest bit of blue but, not enough to be concerned with in my opinion. I'd have to give it a very well done. I'll be ordering some. Bad news is, now I have to pull engine back out of the chassis and repaint it with this color. Good news is, it'll look great when it's done which will help the entire resto look even better. Thanks Bees.

I hope to get to finally look at my JEEP tomorrow to compare the test pattern. It's been a long few weeks (work-related travel and too much work) and I am heading just south of San Antonio on Sunday for another 4 days of work.

Here is the best I could do. My original decal was already lifting, so I peeled it back a bit. It's pretty darn close.

Edit: Anyone that wants this test sample card please shoot me a PM with your address.

Edit #2: I have higher-res images if someone wants them. I can email if you shoot me a PM.

Would like to bring this subject to a close. Do we have a match with the test pattern or does it need to move a little in the blue direction?

As a recent owner, I have zero knowledge, but when it came time to replace the water pump and thermostat housing on my '67 Jeepster, I found a rattle can called "Pontiac Blue DE 1610, by Dupli-Color at a local store. It seems awfully close to the paint left on my engine, perhaps not quite blue enough. My engine is most definitely a darker hue than the light green shown here, and it has no metallic content.

I tried that same color. Not even close on the few original paint flakes that my engine had left over. I wonder if maybe the early Dauntless had a Buick Turqoise (sp?) color, while the later units that Kaiser was producing took on the minty green color.

I hate to open this subject again but my '66 Dauntless does not have any metallic: same as reported by the '67 owner. I'll be doing the research on engine paint soon.

Dauntless Engine Enamel Paint - Beating a dead horse

I should be getting my rebuilt 225 back sometime next week and would like to go with the Dupli Color BG11M Hampstead Green Color. HAs any one used this and if so, have you hqad issues with the engine heat around the exhaust manifolds?

Any old single stage urethane enamel will do. Only problem I've had is some flaking off the aluminum intake after I spilled some gas while doing carb maint. Stay away from the Duplicolor type front-of-house FLAPS crap. I used Nason and it has held up well.

Mine is Hampstead Green and I am satisfied wtih the color. I bought Nason at an auto body supply house. Later found out it is also available in the back room of O'Reilly Auto Parts. Paint code is BG11M. You don't want base/clear, you just want plain ol' enamel.

I went down to O'Reilly's today and purchased 2 cans of Hampstead Green. They told me it is acrylic enamel. Is this the type of paint you used? I also saw they had a green that looked close w/o the metallic. It was a Detroit diesel color.

That'll do. Shoot a few thin coats. If you search, there's a discussion here recently about prepping the engine for paint.

Coincidentally, I was just down cleaning out some JEEP parts from the girlfriend's garage and found paint code AE-TCPE66-71(B). Guess it never got mailed out. Did anyone still want to look at this chip? I think it was a pretty good match, IIRC, but really not much different than the Hampstead Green.

I called the customer service at www.tcpglobal.com and gave them the paint code AE-TCPE66-71(B). They didn't have it in the system so they gave me some other department and told me to leave a message. That was with repeaded attempts with no reply. When was the last time anybody bought that paint from them and does anyone have a contact name they talked to? I am getting my Dauntless back from the engine shop next week and I want to go ahead a get some paint

Here is mine. Hampstead green BG11M and the color and metalic was almost a perfect match to what was on originally. I did have quite a bit of original paint still on mine.

Thanks Walt. Have you found a replacement dust boot for your clutch fork?

I finally found the Hampstead green at Autozone after looking at 4 different O'Reily Auto Parts. They only come in 4 ounce cans though.

After gettign fed up with trying to find an old paint reference, I gave up and painted mine Empire Blue Poly due to the fact that I will be covering the Jeep in this color this summer.
