    :flag:DONT MEAN TO SOUND DUMBBBBB, HI IM TONY I HAVE A 76 CJ5 I BLEW THE 258 TREATING IT LIKE A BULLDOZIER PUSHING A LANDBARDGE CHEROKEE THAT 4WD WENT OUT, AND I GOT HIM OUT OF THE WOODS BUT THREW NUMBER 1 ROD OUT SIDE BLOCK, WAS STILL RUNNING, I HAVE A 75 258 ALL ORIG I WANT TO PUT IN MINE, ARE THE MOTOR MOUNTS THE SAME? (THE 75BODY IS COMPLETELY GONE) I GOT IT JUST FOR PARTS, ITS AMAZING HOW MUCH CHANGED, WIPERS,DASH,STEERING WHEEL, LIGHTS (REAR) ALOT. I FOUND THIS SITE AND HAVE LEARNED ALOT, ALSO A GUY TELLS ME HE HAS A 47 HE CLAIMS IS A FORD, HUH,

    The engines from '75 to '76 are the same. Use the '75 engine. No problem.

    Ford made Jeeps under contract for the military in WW II. This had ended by 1947 though - something about that story isn't accurate. Worth checking out though - WW II Jeeps are very much in demand.

    If your Jeep has power steering, some of the early blocks do not have bolt holes in the drivers side of the block to mount the power steering pump, the timing cover bolts are 1/4 instead of 5/16 this can cause an issue with the alternator mounting if your alt. is on the passengers side. The timing cover and balancer are different (the timing tab on the 75 is on the passengers side and a 76 should have it on the drivers side and the water pump is different. However all the accessories are interchangeable between engines .
