    Fired right up! HOLY %#!@
Had to file the points quite a bit, but it fired right up with a new starter and coil.

today, I ran a forward control for the first time in my life. Be still, my beating heart.
Getting a radiator next. once it was running it began to leak.

What do you expect, its an old Jeep! If the engine isn't siezed, it will usually start right up on fresh fuel and filed points.
    Glad to hear it runs!

Heck I'd have a better chance of winning the lottery!!
All the folks around here keep their junk in the fields and deer camps and such so I usually have to drive around to find deals.

all right, so im in contacts with a guy about a FC cab. he is about 15 hours away, finished his project, and is looking to free up space. compared to my cab, his is showroom condition. he said make him an offer that's fair to us both, and its mine.

i just absolutely hate that, because i paid 300 for my "now" running FC. whats a fair price? do i figure in the 30 hour round trip and fuel in my offer?

i feel i ned to start sourcing body panels or a new cab. the mechanics are going to be a breeze and go faster than i anticipate. ordering a new clutch right away too. then its brakes. then it will be spring i hope, and i can mount a cab and bed....anyways...
we have been chatting back and forth today, and im going to call him tonight. i just dont know honestly what a fair to us both offer is. FC's are rare, but they aren't sought after.
and he has a set of doors

Four philips screws attach the serial tag on the wheelwell. That green cab looks great in the pictures. There are differnces between the 150 and 170 cabs. Some of it is the expanded metal at the back wall, and the engine box and tunnels have some differences. Basically, they can interchange with a little work, though I have not done this myself. If that green cab were 15 hours away from me, I would sure be considering it.

chassis question...i want to remove the PTO. i can just put a flat piece of 1/8" steel plate over the back, where the PTO was, right? i will keep the PTO, but realistically, its at the bottom of my list as far as wants OR needs.

You can fabricate a plate, or more easily, pick up a cover plate from any Dana 18 from virtually any 4wd Jeep prior to 1972. No extra transfer cases laying around to rob one from?
As far as offering $600 for the cab, you would be doing well to get it for that. You will have way more than that in parts and your labor to repair your original one.
