I'm getting ready to cut out the rot in my floorboard where it meets the riser for the back. Both corners have extra steel spot welded in. I'm wondering if a P.O. did this or this is how it came from the factory. The pictures aren't the best but the extra metal is somewhat visible.

My 70 didn't have anything "extra" at that location.

Common place for patches. I've disassembled four Commandos and all of them where rusted and patched in this area.

One of mine has solid stainless steel floors in it, by PO. The other is just plain old rusted floors. I was thinking about replacing my rusted out floor panels. Where is everyone getting replacements panels ?? I know of one source so far, but that's it.

I bought a 4x8 sheet of 16ga steel for $70. Cardboard patterns of the floor then cut them out, worked great. Was able to make them as big or small as needed and had enough steel left to complete the rest of the body repairs.

Thanks for the ideas. I figured these were patch pieces after I noticed they were just spot welded in place. Moisture had seeped behind the patches, causing more rust.
