Hi does anybody know where to get a good 12 volt gas tank sending unit.

Good meaning one that works correctly, I just bought one from walcks it has a brass float so I thought this would be a pretty decent one wrong when I checked it with the multimeter it was all over the place and doesn't register correctly. A little frustrating any ideas out there what would be a good replacement or something that is interchangeable.

I'm in the same boat for a 67. The under seat and auxiliary tank.

I got the six hole one for the 6t6 cj5 v6 from G 503 here in Oregon. It works so far. Put in five gallons and the gauge read it was half full. Other than moving it over to the neighbor's for temporary storage, it has not been driven so I can't tell you how accurate it is. It did have a plastic float though.

These senders are not really super precision. I would spray some solvent inside the sender and work the float arm up/down many times and check again with meter. They are not super accurate initially so measure your tank depth and bend the float arm to match your top/bottom range. Good luck.

    For what it's wort

    Here are some comparison.

The dimensions of the original stock gas tank sending unit which was a Stewart Warner are as follows see attached photo. The new sending unit that I got with a copper float the distance of the arm is about a half inch longer which means that the travel distance is greater than the stock one. Just bending the float is not going to change the distance that the contact needs to move.
