Generator brushes, source? ('65 F-head)

    I can't seem to locate a supplier for replacement generator brushes. (Stock 1965 12volt CJ5 f-head).

    Any suggestions?

    Sounds like a perfect time to upgrade to a one wire alternator! Seriously, I had the same issues several years ago with my other jeep, Check your local alternator/ generator repair facility they probably can get you some. Sorry I wasn't much help

    I contemplated repairing my generator a few years back, but I decided to adapt a Delco 10si alternator to my F-head. These are readily available at any parts store for as little as thirty bucks. (Plus core charge or exchange). They are very easy to adapt by modifying existing brackets and adapting an alternator bracket as pictured below.

    I am sure there are others who have different methods which work equally well.

    Thanks for the help and suggestions!

    As regards alternators, I accept that there are many good reasons for them, but in forty years with Jeeps, I've never felt that a generator was a problem I needed to solve.

    And generally, I like to keep things as stock as possible - there's fewer and fewer 'original' jeeps around as years go by.
