Bought a rebuilt carb for my 75 with a 258. For the most part I'm all set, but having some issues connecting the fuel lines. The new carb isn't exactly the same as the old Carter YF and I can't seem to figure out how to finish. I can buy a set of new fuel lines but am not sure what size I need. Can't seem how to post a pic

Do you still have your old carburetor? Put a picture of it and the new carb on Photobucket and post a link here.

I believe there is help for posting picture already on the site somewhere - look in the other forums.

Well, for some reason it's in "Announcements" and not "Help" - http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?78830-Posting-photos

    It's private.

My best guess is 5/16 inverted flare. They are sold at most FLAPS at various lengths with male threads on both ends. If you have a tubing cutter and flare tool you can bend one and cut to length.

So I did manage to change the setting of the photo album to public...
I guess I have sub-par auto parts stores...mine don't carry the cutters or the flare tools. But I did manage to turn the threads on the fitting that was the wrong size and am pretty proud of myself...isn't the right size (7/16-24) but hopefully its close enough (thread size 20). If anyone has a 7/16-24 tap, I'm happy to send if back to you! Hopefully she'll start up this morning.

Any particular reason you have the fuel line connected to the bowl vent tube??

Pack Rat is correct-in the last pic, the fuel hose is hooked up to the bowl vent pipe. This won't work! You need to have the fuel line hooked up the female threaded port just to the left. You should have a brass fitting out of your old carb to make the connection. If not go to the parts store & buy a 1/8 male NPT to 5/16 hose barb fitting.
Oh, and cap off that bowl vent pipe.

the fuel inlet fitting pictured is a compression type fitting.

I'm not so sure you're looking at the same thing we are. The only compression fitting I see is for the line for the hot air choke. We're referring to where the line with fuel filtere is connected, that's the carb bowl vent not the fuel inlet.

I see what wrong. On the old carb the fuel inlet is on right side(you can see the threads). And the new one it on the left side, plus you need a new brass fitting, just like Colojeepguy is saying.

Can someone with the same or comparable set-up post a pic.? I think I have the carb hooked up right now - thanks for the input - but now I need to see the bottom of the unit so I know where to connect the springs because I screwed up and now my throttle linkage isn't working right. I will do my best to post a new pic so the group can confirm that my current set-up is correct.
    Thanks

Looks good to me. I'll see if I can get a picture of the one I have in the shop, I think the spring is still hooked up.
The spring hooks into the bracket that hangs off the arm attached to your original carb. You should be able to drill a small hole just below and slightly inward of the stud for the accelerator cable and hook the spring in there. OTOH the spring that's wrapped around the throttle shaft may be strong enough that you don't need the original spring.
