I tried to get this off... pushed, pulled, prodded!

What’s the trick? Anyone have a pic of the two sides disconnected?

    Thanks!

They are supposed to just simply pull apart. No hidden latches or clips. Due to years of connection and heat/cool high current etc they can be a bear to pull apart.

'74 has a point-to-point harness, like the earlier Jeeps. It goes through a grommet in the firewall to the light switch. Your '75 is the first year for modern harness with a fuse panel.

That plug was one of the most memorable parts of my teardown this summer. I tried going around the seam with a razor blade, wiggling it forever, and I think even vice grips. Eventually I got it after some patience, no damage either! All I can say is keep at it and good luck.

I can get a picture of the steering column end of the plug if you want, it's still sitting here. The other end is amidst the piles of parts somewhere...

I think I am ok without the pics.... when I did the timing cover and took the grill of 3yrs ago I could not remove this connector. I ended up putting the grill on the side of the Jeep wrapped in a blanket with the wire going over the fender.

I am in the mist of rewiring the stereo, MSD ignition and want to move these wires too....

    I will try again.....

Spray a bunch of WD40 into the holes for the wires. It'll find its way to the blade connection amd may soften the corrosionnor grime that has it locked up.
