I bought this guy yesterday. It's a 2010 Sahara so it has the woefully underpowered 3.8l mini van motor and it's an automatic that despite what you want it to do, it does it's own thing sometimes. Other than those downsides, it has a Teraflex 60R with an ARB, a Tera44F with an ARB and 35 spline RCV shafts, JE Reel driveshafts, pretty much everything offered in the ARB catalog for a 2 dr JK, a Warn Zeon 10-S, Trail Ready beadlocks with 37" Falken M/T's, drawer system, an ARB Fridge, and a front Poison Spyder cage kit. I think it might outwheel the CJ-6.... especially right now. ;)

I'll never understand why everyone has to have the snorkel . it's not like your going to drive it water up to steering wheel ;)

I can't argue that mostly, but I can tell you that I've had this one up to the fenders in water and it was over the headlight on the snorkel side on the Rubicon with a salesman. That guy almost rolled it... I found a water line inside the door jam up to the windshield on the passenger side after that trip. It was enough to kill the TIPM eventually and make the headlights not work. It likely would have sucked water into the motor on either of those outings if not for the snorkel. Modern vehicle electronics make the obvious benefit of a snorkel (water intake) almost obsolete but.... There is also the benefit of much colder, practically forced air at highway speeds. It makes a difference believe it or not.

I've not heard real good things about a boosted 3.8.... And the expense is huge, not engine swap huge, but if I boost it and blow it up, I'm either stuck with replacing a boosted 3.8 because I spent a lot to boost it, Or I wasted swap money on a charger that I could have put towards a swap. Unless someone wants me to be a test pig and makes me an offer I can't refuse to boost a 3.8, it's gonna stay the way it is until I can look at swaps.....

I like it..........seems to have lots of goodies, although the drag link angle seems a bit much , hows the Bump Steer under braking?

It does have lots of goodies. I'm in a gray area between built, not bought and bought, not built with it. I did a bunch of the work on it...... but I did buy it the way it sits.

Drag link is straight parallel to the track bar. Stops straight, goes over bumps straight.... I've ridden in far far worse set ups that were downright scary going over rail road tracks.. This one you can't tell they are there .lol It might need more caster cause it's kind of twitchy on the hwy but..... It could be the fact that everything else I own is over 20 yrs old and the steering boxes are worn....I'm not sure what a tight one feels like anymore.

Nice looking rig there. As far as the snorkel goes.....it's not always the concern of high water. You'd be surprised at how much less dust you pick up in the filter having the inlet up like this. My son has one on his FJ....he follows me on the trails so I don't have to suck the dust, and you wouldn't know it when the filter is checked. Keep it up.....

Nice looking rig and yep, it's gonna out wheel just about any CJ, bigger or not.

When the JK debuted, I test drove 3 different 3.8 powered rigs and decided I couldn't live with that engine. And frankly, the 3.6 is also marginal-at least in an unlimited. Not enough poop to really cruise at freeway speed unless you are constantly shifting gears and not enough poop off-road for the serious stuff with 4.10 diffs. I do think a 3.6 will stand a little boost better, but still an inadequate engine.

I just don't get it. Why do manufacturers, and especially Willys, Kaiser, AMC, & Chrysler, throughout history of Jeep, all put hand-me-down crap in the engine bay that is only marginally up to the task? Whippet 134 to the 3.6, IMO the only well balanced engine application to the rig was the 225 option in the CJ5's and even that worked best with the also optional 4.88's.

I've actually been wheeling this one since 2012 off and on. I did Easter Jeep safari that year with it, The JK experience in the Midwest, and then every subsequent EJS since then with other various events mixed in. I'm taking it to Mesquite Nevada in early October for the threequel to the event I did last year with my CJ-6. I'll be towing my trailer with it again this year.

Off in the morning for Mesquite NV. Working our way to Moab UT by next weekend by way of Dirt. Should be fun and I should have an engine for the CJ-6 waiting for me when I get back.

It's only kinda stretched. It started life as a factory LWB Samurai called a "Samurai Super". He's stretched the wheelbase and replaced the back half of the body due to some "Hammers damage" but I don't think the body is really any longer than stock. It's got a swapped in Toyota drivetrain with dual t-cases and a VW TDI engine. It works really well.
