Points out adjustment can act that way. Basic tune-up is always the right way to start any diagnosis.

 

Thanks for the info folks. Picked up a fuel filter this am... gonna start with that.

 

OK... here's the latest... I picked up a fuel filter from the auto parts store this AM. A fellow jeeper works there, and he came outside and looked at my jeep while I was explaining my problem. He looks at the carb, and says "hey you've got a missing hose or plug cap". It was an open fitting off the side of the carb... small block that has 4-5 ports for hoses, vacuum, intake etc. So we get a cap and put it on the open fitting. He also looked at my carb, pointed out some worn components, looked at the bulb etc and suggested either a rebuild or replacement... based upon the age of the carb, unknown history etc I have to say I agree with him. I like the weber 38 DGES.... hmmmm….

I prob drove the jeep about 50 miles since...haven't changed my fuel filter yet which I still plan on doing... and no problems at all! Yeah I know probably just cursed myself, but wow I'm shocked! I had a great time cruising... ahhh it was sweet! Added some gas treatment / fuel system cleaner, fresh gas and still no issues!

I'm still gonna do some looking and checking, but as it's running good just wanna drive it.

 

Keep It Simple , Eh. A vacuum leak : WhoDa thought !

 

Most often a vacuum leak will cause a stumble at pulling away from a stop, as well as climbing hills, etc.
