After several hrs of getting the head off, breaking half the head bolts. Found 2 pistons with holes in them. How this ran so good is a mystery. So based on the broken bolts and pistons I'm putting the money into the rebuild of the original motor. Big setback

You sure those dimples are "holes"? I dont think ANY 4 cyl runs with holes in two pistons.

Ok. I doubt an engine of any number of cylinders except a Pratt Whitney radial and maybe a Roll Royce Merlin will run with holes in two cylinders.

I saw and heard it run this past Tuesday in person, it didn’t honestly sound bad at all but smoked like a freight train. Very surprising to see such damage

Not looking at the dimples, holes are on the edge of the pistons, dimples belong there, and yes it ran good but killed mosquitos instantly

Called the guy that does engines 508.00 to get motor ready. So I went over all costs and comes out a tie. V6 gives me 45 more hp and 45 more pounds of torque. Doing other motor keeps it original. Either way its around 1300 00
Looking to see what you guys think. Keep original or put un v6 ?

What other Mods will you have to do and is that cost/time factored in? Other than that, I vote for keep original but the choice is ultimately yours since it is your truck and your money.

I'd say keep original. A swap will set you back in ways you don't see yet and lots of time.

The originals are getting fewer and fewer. Personally, I consider myself as simply a temporary steward of this (my wagon, Wilbur and CJ Willie) small piece of history. I understand different people have different views, but I'm keeping Wilbur original as I rebuild him a after recent wreck, except for seat belts and improved brakes.

I'd keep it original unless going more modern. I'll get hazed for this, but a 225 isnt enough of an upgrade to make it worth it IMO.

Since the motor is original I'm keeping it all together. I'll drive the CJ for my dauntless fix, thanks peeps
