No matter which way I run it, it still seems like all 3 (both wheels and actuator) cables are about a foot too long. Cant find anything in the FSM. Anybody got a pic.

I have a set of used factory OEM intermediate brake cables stashed away.

New? Used? Came with the Jeep? Purchased where and with what spec? Part numbers?

There are three cables and an equalizer. The front cable mounts to a bracket on the bottom of the body. The only adjustment, aside from the self adjusters at the wheels, is the threaded end on the front cable, going through the equalizer. Both rear cables clamp to the underside of the body. Pretty hard to get it wrong unless you have the wrong parts. '76 up is different from '72-75, and the aftermarket listings are often wrong.

The passenger cable makes a loop between the backing plate and the clamp, and goes to the driver's side of the equalizer. The driver cable makes an S and goes to the passenger side of the equalizer. Maybe that's what's missing.

    timgr,
You said the front cable mounts to a bracket which mounts to the body. I have the bracket. Which side of the body does it mount to, or to the center. Wasn't hooked up from the PO, just hanging loose. Will probably have to make the bracket for the rear cables. Best place for it is body or frame crossmember?
    thanks

is it truly a loop? or is it a "perspective" quirk on the 2-D parts diagram?

I ran them similar to the diagram in the parts manual and it seems to work.
    Thanks jpflat2a
