stupid SM465 question

    A after getting the lower shaft and gears in. I looked at the schematic and I forgot #41.


    how critical is that? Is it worth taking it back apart for?

    I think I know the answer, but I figured I's check before tearing at apart again.

    I can't tell you how critical it is, but do you really want to worry about it everytime you take the Jeep out ? Without a doubt, I would tear it down and install the part for peace of mind..

    That shim needs to be in there. Even though the gear may fit tight on the counter gear under load it will start walking back and forth. Sorry to tell you it needs to come apart and that installed.

    Its not the shim that I'm missing. Its #41 The clip. Original post edited to correct that.


    I doubt that changes the answer though.

    Nope. Need that snap ring to hold the gear in place.
