Mastercraft makes really under rated tires IMHO. I had a set of A/T2's and they were bullet proof (very dense and hard rubber). I put 70,000+/- miles on one set and they still had 60% tread left when I finally changed up to a more agressive "looking" tire. Granted, those where concrete cowboy miles, but still very impressive. I can't speak to their off-road abilities thou; I can say on ice covered roads they didn't do so hot.

I like them. I'm going to run an aggressive all terrain like that on the Varg if I ever get it finished. I've been eying the Falken Wildpeak ATs, but now it looks like there's another contender in the ring. (y)

image.jpeg Modified the passenger side seat mount today. Heat and work seem to keep delaying progress. But still moving forward ever so slowly.

Found myself having to tear into the body after some rust effected the panel from the body channel. I cut out both areas, about 2 inches squared each, welded in patches. So I hit the panels with two coats of epoxy and one glide coat.

I hate having to tear into bodywork that was already completed, but it is what it is . . . it was stored for 2 years outside under a tarp. Lesson learned I guess.

I'll let it sit and sand on it next week if time permits.

Ran the right rear tire into town with me this morning. Picked up a razor blade... an entire razor blade. :steamed: Tire shop put the biggest patch they had, put on a couple layers of sealant, and it still leaked just barely.

It was getting to be time for new tires, but I guess the razor decided it was time now. Hoping to be putting on a set of 33x10.5s.

Learned something new about Ross steering system today. Too much play in wheel; problem appeared to be in bellcrank and drag link joints. Pulled bellcrank, cleaned and polished, all looked and fit good. Set drag link ball joint screws to spec (new to me), minor adjustment on Ross box, topped with 140 gear oil, all nice and tight now. Good day for test ride in ‘71.

Got my Rochester back from the rebuild shop; rebuilt, blasted and clear coated so its shinny again. Ran me $145. I'm starting to feel like Johnny Cash, "One piece at a time."

Put different clamps on fuel lines. Ran engine for a little bit, no leak. Bolted drivers step on.

Just finished doing the dash swap with the Walck’s replacement dash, complete with the glove box door and inner glove box (plastic)
Also put in brand new light switch, ignition switch, choke cable and a NOS speedo.
So happy to have this part done :)

Started the morning nice and cool. Went for a bicycle ride with the fam.

Then I finished sanding, and wiped down the jeep tub, the hood and the front grill.

Mixed me some 2k high build primer and started squirting...

After an hour or so, I lost my temp window, best I can figure - gun started blowing paint dust ... partially clogged up (temp too high again?), tore the thing apart, acetone, cleaned, and finished most of the remaining cup (about 1/2) before it started again ... It's in the mid-80's at the moment. I've been doing stuff in the low 70's.

I am 'done enough' with high build for now. Will cure then I'll be setting stuff on the frame for a looksee and to fit the power steering dialed in before final welds.

Got it. Was on the 3rd pot. Didn't clean in between ... noted the dregs of leftovers bit me in the backside and I won't make the 'clean in between' mistake again.
