NOS frame was hot dipped after I did some work to it...
took some lessons learned from rebuilding my land rover and decided this was the way to go...

can you tell me just a bit more on the Kevlar rear brakes. and maybe a manufacturer/part #.... everything is looking super sweet , body is killer,,,and those Confer ubolt plates are so pretty and straight. mine are trashed .
edit: I don't see any provision for the p/s box ? remember you cant weld on the galv.

well you can weld it.... just don't inhale...
I should be tackling the steering this week if I have some time..
its a fully bolt on solution, minus drilling out one of the frame rivets.

also noticed that the lower shock mount studs are sticking too far out.. need to replace with bolts to properly align the shocks..

as far as the kevlar shoes.. had them built locally from old core...
there is a 90 something year old, 3rd generation family run brake and clutch business locally.. they rebuild anything and everything that has friction material.. from obscure agriculture to ski lift brakes.

dont really plan on welding... tried to take care of most if not all of the frame work prior to the dip..
I have some experience welding galvy on the rover.. and yes.. getting as much of the crap off is the key and ventilation is a damn must.

mocked up the steering bracket and gear box...
some of the holes in the bracket need to be opened up a bit and I had to shave down some of the corners.. wasn't a precision fit.
does the angle of the steering box look good? Im use to looking at the YJ where the box is perpendicular to the frame rails..

keep an eye on those bolted mounts ,,they work loose or crack.

seems that years of fat people abuse puts strain on these things..
a bead around the brackets would prob help this fat kid from breaking it... the factory in the early 70's didnt see the weight epidemic looming.

the bracket and the old welds fit like a puzzle... shouldnt be too hard to match

Made some headway today... engine almost all buttoned up..

popped off the oil pan and installed the little plastic button on the bottom of the pickup tube..
Prevents the sump from getting sucked to the bottom of the pan..

    Finished building the oil pump..
HRC cut gears should help increase life and oil pressure..
