    It's a twin stick.

Because all Dauntless CJ's were all originally equipped with single stick transfer case shifters.

The sharp edges on the notches of the shifter rails love to eat the new seals when you install them. Since there is no need for them to be that sharp, I kissed them with a flapper disc before I put the seals in.

    Because
yours is the single shifter style and his is the twin shifter style. The shift rails are different between the two styles.

That makes sense, I have never looked at the twin stick without the shifter attached. Thanks. Tuxedo parks had the single stick shifter too, I don't know if they were the large index though. I am going to pull my single stick transfer case out of my 64 TP in the spring and replace it with a large index V 6 transfer case. I will know then.

Your 64/65 Tux should have the small hole case, with the 1 1/4" intermediate shaft. I think all Dauntless V6 CJs got the large hole case.

Sorry, I didn't know that yours was not a twin stick. Anyhow, anyone with a twin stick like mine, all the advice in here is good, if you are considering rebuilding your D-18. By the way, Happy New Year's Eve to you all and thanks for the help you have all given me this year. I am getting close to having my Jeep on the road, and you all have been a big part of that. Later...

Huh? All of my Jeep Dana 18's are twin stick. In fact, all of the ones I've had that were not, I converted.

Sorry, Patrick. I meant to quote Rick. This is what happens when one has worked for 15 hours and tries to participate in this Jeep forum before going to bed. Have a great New Year, ok?
