Nothing new here, but some detail that others might like to have in advance if doing the ammo can glove box mod/upgrade.

I cut a channel out so I could fit the can around the Jeep's front gusset thing.

You don't have to cut as big of a channel as I did, but knowing what I know now I can share some tighter measurements with you guys. Stand the can upright and...
Measuring from the bottom of the can to the lowest horizontal cut is 3-3/8".
Bottom of can to the top horizontal cut is 4-1/4".
Left corner of can to the right vertical cut is 3-3/4".
Left corner side depth is 1-1/8".

Place the can into position (behind dash) and mark the bottom and side mounting holes then drill with a 3/16" bit.

Grind off the hinge if the side screw holes line up in the way like mine did.

    Hardware left to right:
    2 nylon spacers 1/8" thick.
2 8/32 x 3/8 machine screws with K Lock nuts for bottom of the glove box.
2 8/32 x 3/4" machine screws with K Lock nuts for the sides.
Disregard the last two on the far right. They were 1" and too short for the top holes, they're not needed anyway...The can's not going anywhere.

The tape helps to slip the nylon washer into position on the sides.

    Boom...Looks factory.

Too funny. I went to 4 different stores today looking for the perfect box...The only thing about the ammo can that could be better is the depth.

I didn't want to tell you where I was sitting at the time so I'm happy we could communicate.

The bigger ones were a little more difficult. You can see the copper pipe I bent in the background...Fits perfectly in the tight spaces.

I went ahead and used various drill bits that are just big enough to clean out the holes to be filled.

Amazing the number of holes that get drilled in our jeeps over time.

Just pushing your buttons. When you get up to welding 150' by 50' skylights together, let me know. I suppose you need to learn how to weld aluminum first.
Actually everything would fit in a semi or two or three, and be shipped to places around the country. We just did all of the fab work in the shop and hoped it fit together on site.

Passenger side finished with the exception of the antenna and spare tire holes...Gonna have to think about those.

Went a lot faster than anticipated!

Hole saw, dremel, tin snips, bench grinder, or file will make the patch to be welded

Use card board or card stock for template.

    Good luck!
