Has anyone recently installed new front fenders from Crown/ Omix? If so, is the quality better than what I'm afraid it will be? I reworked the fenders on the Tux, but I'd really like new fenders for it.

Not the new ones but about 15 years ago I Purchased a pair for the CJ-6 project. One side was an inch longer than the other and both looked like they'd been sat on they drooped so much. Right out of the box. Not to mention the popped spot welds and rust forming on them in the packaging.
But again, to be fair, that was about 15 years ago. Sold them to someone that wanted to cut them for half of what I paid because Crown would not take them back. That still does not sit well with me for what I paid with shipping.

Check Classic Enterprises. I would NEVER buy an MD Juan product again...

Then I found Shell Valley fiberglass fenders, for much cheaper than the correct (no marker light) Crown fenders..

It doesn't look like Classic Enterprises offers complete front fenders..

How do they look comparison wise to stock fenders?

From what I have been told from a known Jeep Import dealer in Oregon...........that MD Jaun............and 1 other Philippines based company that made some stainless vehicles years ago which may or may not still be around are the only ones in the World that produce early Jeep sheet metal parts like bodies, fenders, hoods , windshield frames Etc........all of which gets distributed & sold internationally and re-branded under several names. So don't be surprised that all of what you see out there no matter what the distributor may claim probably started it's journey in the Philippines.

And When you think about the huge investment in 400 ton presses and dies to perform this work for such a small market I believe what he says is true.

So, the Crown fenders are the same as MD Juan? Only much cheaper? I'm tempted to try the "heavy duty" fiberglass fenders.

Try and find some original ones...........there out there , or pay a good sheet metal man to knock out the imperfections in the ones you have............in some markets the originals are real pricey but worth there weight. I've seen original early CJ no rust , no side light fenders go for a $1000 per side.

I agree with trying to find original ones. Good or decent repairable ones are out there if you are patient. The killer may be shipping costs.
$1000 per side? They better be absolutely pristine NOS units or someone is seriously stupid.
I sold a pair of early M38a1 fenders without the reinforcement (extremely hard to find) in "decent" shape (not beat up but a few extra small holes and one or two cracks all easily fixed) for $350 for the pair. And sat on them for a couple months while advertising them.

I use a set of rugged ridge , but that was years ago . fit and finish wasn't that great . both had to be notched for shocks , looks like they use later model inner fender . passenger side didn't fit grill shell , little hammer work . now my buddy ordered two fenders crown , one was bent right out of box . the other one was not stamped smooth in the front . return both . second set wasn't much better , weld seam joints had gaps in them , he reworked both of that set
I agree a good used set would be the way to go

Yeah, that's not so easy. Mine are straight, but the RH fender was cracked badly when Dad got the Jeep. He repaired it, but had to weld a piece of strap inside the upper lip to reinforce it, and subsequently rusted it out. I cut out the rusted section and welded in a patch. It looks fine, but it'll probably rust out again. Plus, both fenders have just a bit of sag, or droop. It just needs to be replaced.
I don't want to buy used and end up with something as bad as what I have. I've searched Craigs and even ebay....

I have a set of crown fenders on my 1973. They were manufactured in 2015.

They look fantastic. I had to notch the inner fender like everyone else and tap the grill area slightly to meet up but they look great. One of them was slightly dinged up from shipping but they sent another by 3 day post and told me to keep the other one.

I'm sure they wouldn't be for the guy that needs perfection but they look a heck of a lot better than my bashed up fenders.

On a side note prior to these I had two factory cj fenders on it but from different decades on it. They didn't match %100 either in looks and fitment. I'm pretty happy with the Crown's. Especially for a driver/trail jeep.
