Hey Everyone how's it going? New to the form new to the CJ world also. Picked up a CJ 5 from a guy for $250 and he told me its a 1959. However upon starting my teardown I've become curious with locating serial numbers and facts about the jeep. The body has no serial numbers left on or any identifying marks other than a tuxedo park Mark IV emblem and the jeep name on the side. The motor serial number is 4J307435 stamped above the thermostat area. The frame has a serial of 13832 stamped above the front axel area. The rear I can no longer see due to rust and pitting. Trans seems to be a t90a1. I'll post a bunch of pics. Any info would be great. I don't think the body went with this frame, motor, and Trans.

aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

Picts are good. People do some strange things with jeeps over the years.

Hard to make out details, but the body seems a later type, not '59.

Unfortunately there is no complete serial number only what I've listed above all other markings and Id tags were removed over the years. From what I have been able to research the frame serial dates back to a 55 cj5 due to the 5 low digits and the wheel base of 81 inches this should make it a cj5 not 6.

That sequential serial number would fit into the range of a 1965 Tuxedo Park built in December 1964 also....

Your numbers are after mine, and mine is a March of 1960 number.

That serial is stamped on the frame wouldn't a 5 digit number have only been used up to 1962 according to some sites?

The Mk lV Tuxes (8322) have their own serial numbers that don't follow the 8305 series Jeeps. Zoomer is correct on his reply. I have a 137XX that is 1965.

What makes you think it is a Tux, anyway?

    What are it's colors?

What kinda shifter does it have.

I don't think it's a tux honestly it has the tux Mark 4 badge on the hood but nothing else I can find to resemble. Has the standard 3 speed t90a1 on the floor with the 4/2wd stick and high low also not a column shifter. I only ask because I'm new to the jeep world and the only markings I have are the frame serial number and the engine number. Still confused how the frame id of 13832 leads to a 64/65 tux and not a 55 cj5 the original color seeks to either be like a hunter green or a powder blue all the body parts show the blue color

He is saying it could be one or the other in this case. Other things might help identify the frame year. Where are the front shackles? Are they at the front of the frame/springs or are they at the rear of the front springs?

Edit: after looking closely at the pictures it appears to have front shackles. I also see the frame mounted battery tray.

Is there any way you can enlarge the pictures you have? It's difficult to see details. The dash picture seems to show a newer model speedometer. Does the cowl have the fake battery box cover on the right side?
