I've searched and searched and cant find any threads on this. Has anyone done or seen a power brake setup using frame mounted pedals or firewall mounted that don't require removing the firewall heater? I want to go 4 wheel disk and add power brakes if i can. I have a 66 with the fhead.

i dont know if the ross steering box would get in the way but you might be able to use a hydroboost booster with the frame mounted pedals.

I plan on changing it to powersteering with a saginaw box.

You can slave a power booster to the original hydraulic cylinder. Remote boosters are widely available, typically electric for hot rods. The Best in Brakes & Steering...

The main issue is having both a dual cylinder and power brakes. There are vintage solutions for single-circuit systems - look at "hydrovac."

Just asking, why do you want power brakes with 4 wheel disk. Front disk without a power booster can stop you scary fast.

I wasn't sure how well a manual master would be with both the front and rear being disk vs half disk/half drum. I have been looking at the corvette style masters and they are available for 4 wheel disk, maybe that is the way to go.

I currently have gm midsize disc brakes up front and 10" drums in the back with dual reservoir master cylinder and stock pedals. I can stop very fast. That being said, I stumbled across a gm full size brake setup for free, so I will be moving the midsize disc to the read and installing the full size K10 brakes on the front.

Some of the British sports cars in the 1960's (Jaguar sedans, big Healey's, Sunbeam) used a remote vacuum booster as Tim alluded to in post 4. I have seen a couple photos of our early CJ5's posted here with a big remote vacuum chamber on the inner fender, though I have never seen one in person.
A properly sized master cylinder/caliper will produce excellent brakes without the need for power boost.

Cover all the bore and volume sizes in both the master and calipers F/R and also the pedal ratio............and you should be fine

Herm has a booster kit that works with a single pot master.

That's a VH44 booster + bitties, previously used on British/European small cars as a brake booster, now commonly used as a clutch booster by racers with gonzo stiff clutches. You can get a kit off ebay for about half that.

Brake input from those that did various upgrades

They work well but not really suited for dual MC's unless you have room for two.
