I know. Lord I know. Gotta sell the hippo first.

I’m killing two birds with one stone by starting this. I need a plow rig, and my wife has been on me for years to make this car disappear.

Reminds me of my winter in Houghton, MI. Seeing one of those coming up the road while you are on the sidewalk heading to class was a bit scary.

Last post on her for a while, until I gather the right parts.

The engine and trans are free from the subframe and steering/suspension parts, and it’s parked on some roly poly bits.

The rest of the car was diced up into little pieces and hauled off.

I stacked it in my truck so only “normal” scrap was visible to the transfer station’s gatekeeper. I thought I was home free after I got by him. Our scrap metal bins are down over a wall that you back up against to unload. Just after I uncovered the car pieces, the lady driving the giant articulated Cat drove down and used the bucket to squash the pile. After she was done, she just parked it there and watched me. After I threw the doors in, I was starting to freak out a little and gave her a thumbs up, like, “Is everything ok?” She smiled, returned the gesture and drove off.

I hate dealing with title-less cars. People offer up a bill of sale like it means something.

Ya, but don't you own a cabinet shop, you probably have lots of those "bill of sale" books around. :sneak:. Biggest question now, is just how many more Volvo's you have just sitting around the shop?

Just two daily drivers. I’m only allowed to have one junker here at a time. :madwife:

And now that that one's gone... :twist:

I can’t leave things alone. I came down to clean the shop, and I ended up with my box of driveshaft parts spread out on the bench, trying to see if what I have planned will work. So far, so good.

Passenger’s side drive axle to be converted to a 1310 joint for a front driveshaft. (That’s a yoke from a willys rear shaft.)

I’ll need to cut a groove into the tip of this stub shaft for a snap ring to keep the shaft in place like the other side has. This side normally has a carrier bearing clamped to the block that holds it in.

Uh oh, how did that get up on the bench?

It’ll get interesting tomorrow morning. :sneak:

I’ll either use locking hubs or a center axle disconnect to serve that function, depending on what I can source.
